History and Goals

ABILITY is the result of more than two years of research by Butler New Media associates. It was first conceptualized by Director of Operations, Cornelius Butler. For many years corporate america and others have wanted to do research using people with disabilities. Unfortunately it is often cited that this population is difficult to locate and study. After extensive research and feedback, the ABILITY Panels were born. These new panels offer large databases of individuals with disabilities, their family members, and others who wish to voluntarily participate in our ground breaking research. By using the Internet we allow people nationwide to make their voices heard.

Our Goals:

  • Increase awareness about the unique needs of the disability community and its many subgroups.
  • Show accurate geographic distribution of people with disabilities in the U.S.
  • Help improve customer service for people with disabilities nationwide.
  • Further develop best practices and techniques for surveying people with disabilities.
  • Carry out ongoing research into the needs, wants, and desires of the disability community.
  • Create the largest online panels of people with disabilities, their families, and others in the support network within the United States.
  • Offer Market Research and Data Mining services to disability organizations.
  • Improve product and service accessibility.
  • To serve as a catalyst for systems change.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and make it available for purchase.
  • Provide career opportunities for people with disabilities in the fields of market research and advertising.
  • To help with the inclusion of People with Disabilities in product design.
  • Help to accurately analyze market demand for specific products and services as well as for accessibility features in mainstream products within the disability community.
  • Dispel myths about people with disabilities.
  • Help Build More Accessible Software

Did You Know?

Most workers with disabilities require no special accommodations and the cost for those who do is minimal or much lower than many employers believe. Studies by the Office of Disability Employment Policy's Job Accommodation Network have shown that 15% of accommodations cost nothing, 51% cost between $1 and $500, 12% cost between $501 and $1,000, and 22% cost more than $1,000.
