Privacy Policy

Butler New Media, LLC believes that trust is the foundation of any good relationship. We want you to trust us and know that any responses that you provide will be kept strictly confidential. Below is our in-depth privacy policy.

Our Privacy Promise:

  • We will not make any personal information of our panel members available to anyone without your knowledge (as described in this policy), except in the rare instances required by law. This includes your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address.

  • We will never try to sell you anything - that is not our business. We will never sell your name to anyone else who might want to sell you anything.

  • Occasionally, we may contact you either via email or phone to validate responses. We will never misrepresent ourselves or what we are doing.

  • Your individual responses to surveys will also be kept confidential and will never be linked to your personal identifying information.

  • Your decisions about participating in a study, accepting a mystery shopping assignment, responding to specific questions, or discontinuing participation will be respected without question.

How We Use Information We Collect

We may use aggregate information (information that does not personally identify you) collected on this Site and through the studies to improve the Site and for our market research activities. For example, we may share information with business partners in an aggregate, anonymous form, which means that the shared information will not contain nor be linked to any information which personally identifies you. Individual answers to questions from you may be shared with our business partners, but those answers will not be labeled with, or linked to, your personal information.

Our survey website, ABILITYPanel.com provides members of our panels the opportunity to express opinions and attitudes about current issues, participate in mystery shopping assignments, and other specialized studies. We conduct research that involves people from across the United States, and provide the aggregated results of our research (stripped of any information that identifies you) to a wide variety of clients, including important decision-makers in government, major corporations, disability groups, and news organizations. In addition, certain survey findings are published on our website so that you can be among the first to find out the concerns and interests of people with disabilities and others in their support networks. Our research is what allows us to offer the services and features on our sites free of charge. For more information about who we are and what we are doing, please see our company info section.

Unless you give consent, we will only use personal information (such as your name, email address, phone number and other information that specifically identifies you) for the following reasons: (1) internally at Butler New Media to directly contact you regarding surveys, mystery shopping assignments, other specialized studies, and/or respond to your questions sent to us; (2) to compile the aggregate information described above; (3) to process any incentive or reward which you have decided to receive, such as forwarding your email address to the vendor that will redeem a coupon you have received; or (4) if required to release personal information because of a court order, government agency or by law.

We will never sell your personal information to any third party without your consent, however, to the extent permitted by law, you agree that personal information may be transferred to another company if there is a sale or merger of Butler New Media or the division responsible for these services. All panelists will be notified of such a sale and be allowed to opt out of any of our panels. Access to personal information is limited to our associates, contractors and agents with a specific need to access such information for the purposes set forth in this Policy. All associates, contractors, and agents agree to our strict data access standards. We will not use your information other than as set forth above without your consent.

Protection of Children:

Butler New Media, LLC is committed to protecting the online privacy of children. It is our policy to prohibit users from answering our surveys or submitting personal information to us except with express permission from their parent/guardian. We encourage parents/guardians of children under 13 to regularly check and monitor their children's use of email and other activities on line. If you have any questions or concerns regarding our child privacy policy or practices, please Contact Us.

We may ask a survey participant who is a parent or legal guardian of a child if they would permit their child to participate in our child-specific surveys. If we receive such permission, we will email the parent/guardian a link to a survey that his or her child can respond to. We will not knowingly attempt to contact a child directly to participate in our surveys. The only personal information that we will collect from a child during a survey will be the child's responses to our questions. The responses received from each survey will be reported on an aggregate, anonymous basis to our client and we will not share any personally identifiable information about the child with any third parties.

Consistent with its obligations, Butler New Media, LLC does not request any personal information about the child, other than the personal information provided to us by the parent/guardian or by the child's survey responses. A parent/guardian may review, request the deletion of and/or prohibit Butler New Media's future collection of any personal information about his or her child at any time, simply by communicating his or her request to us by email at cornelius@butlernewmedia.com or by mail at 2208 Rockdale Drive, Conyers, Georgia 30012.

Cookie Usage:

Like other websites on the Internet, we use a variety of mechanisms to keep our sites running smoothly and ensure that your experience is a pleasant one. We use cookies, small data files stored on your computer’s hard drive, to collect information such as browser, type of computer, operating system, Internet service provider, access times and other similar information. We also use cookies to retain your username and password. This feature allows us to recognize our members every time they return to our sites. Although, for your protection you are still required to log in each time you visit in order to access password-protected areas of our sites, such as the "Member Services" area, which contains the personally identifiable information you have provided to us. You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. You do not need to have cookies turned on to participate in our surveys, or to visit our websites. Butler New Media also permits certain third party suppliers to set clear GIFs on the ABILITY Panel registrations obtained through such third parties’ websites to enable them to measure the effectiveness of their panelist recruiting campaigns.

Security:

This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. Panel member names, addresses, and phone numbers are maintained on a secured database accessible only by Butler New Media research staff. Panel members may also access their own information for the purposes of verifying and updating, but they cannot view other members' information. Though we make reasonable efforts to protect the security of your information and our system, no transmission via the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, you assume that risk by using our service.

Policy Changes

We reserve the right to change, add, or remove portions from this Policy at any time. However, if any change involves a plan to use your personal information in a way that differs from this Policy, we will first obtain your prior consent. When your consent is required for any action under this Privacy Policy, you agree that Butler New media may obtain your consent by an "opt-in" or "opt-out" method, or by other means (such as sending to you an email).

Canceling Panel Membership(s):

If you no longer wish to be a member of ABILITY or participate in the studies, you may request that your personal information be removed from our list of active members at anytime by following the "remove me" procedures in our emails or on the Site. Failure to follow the procedures we have provided could delay the removal of your information. We will promptly process you request, however, there may be a gap between the time when we receive your request and the time when we are able to remove your information from all scheduled communications and lists. Therefore, you may receive a few more emails after requesting to be removed from our lists before the request is eventually processed.
